Dortmund hoping to keep hold of superstar Mario Gotze

Borussia Dortmund chiefs are adamant that new star of world football, Mario Gotze will not be leaving Signal-Iduna Park in the near future.

The 19-year-old has already earned comparisons with Lionel Messi, following his impressive performances last season and the German giants could struggle to keep him at the club.

Real Madrid are Barcelona have both shown interest in the player who has been instrumental for both club and country and the start of new season, but Borussia chief Hans-Joachim Watzke believes Gotze will remain in Dortmund for years to come.

“Mario will be with us for much longer than most people think,” Watzke told Bild.

“We have not extended Mario’s contract last season in vain.

“We have promised that we would not sell our key players and that we will develop a team. And we stand by it.”

Watzke says he is not surprised by Gotze’s recent displays.

“Mario is now suddenly so praised in the media. Some may not have seen his performances from last season…?”
