Dortmund match Gonzalo Castro’s buy-out clause

Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of attacking midfielder Gonzalo Castro from Bayer Leverkusen, according to Bild.

The Millionaires had earlier shown interest in the highly rated footballer, but they were not prepared to match the player’s €11 million release clause.

But, after failing to negotiate a discount from Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund officials have informed their league rivals that they are ready to pay said amount.

And with the release clause only active until 25th May, the Millionaires can be trusted to quickly wrap up the deal.

Gonzalo Castro will relish the opportunity to embark on a new challenge after spending last 16 years at Bay Arena, making 286 Bundesliga appearances.

The 27-year-old, who has another year left on his deal with die Werkself has been especially impressive this season, having managed 2 goals and 7 assists in 21 league appearances.

Castro has so far earned five Germany caps, but last featured for the national team almost eight years ago.
