With Manchester United reportedly close to completing a £16M deal to sign Borussia Dortmund, Betfair are giving odds of 4/9 for the centre-back to be a United player before the summer transfer window closes.

Hummels is one of the best defenders in the world, and his performances for Germany en route to their World Cup triumph has seen his reputation rise. The 25-year-old has reached the best moments of his career at a young age, winning two league titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12, and he has also reached the Champions League final, losing to Bayern Munich.

Last season, he made 23 league appearances for Dortmund, scoring two goals and making two assists. Hummels averaged a tackle or interception every 20 minutes, while making only 16 fouls, and averaging a completed pass every 108 seconds.
