Ajaccio sacked head coach Alex Dupont on Monday after just seven months in charge of the Ligue 1 club.

Corsican team Ajaccio have won just three times in their last 15 games, leaving them 14th on the table, three points clear of the relegation zone.

Dupont, who was sacked as Brest coach in April, has now suffered his second dismissal this year.

“I met with each player and I concluded that there is a clear breakdown between the team and the coach. So I finally decided Alex Dupont will no longer be our trainer,” Ajaccio president Alain Orsoni is quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“The situation we have today is totally unacceptable. I am particularly worried by the state of mind of the team, I cannot find the values from which we have traditionally derive our strength.

“I do not sense solidarity, selflessness, commitment and readiness to fight. Those are crucial qualities if we want to stay in the top division.”

Orsoni declined an opportunity to reveal the name of the man to replace Dupont, but stated the new coach will be announced soon.
