Retired Brazil international centre-back Edmilson has warned Lucas Moura to ‘stay smart’ around Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

As he begins his new career in France, Paris Saint-Germain’s record 45-million-euro signing finally arrived in the French capital this week after agreeing a deal to join the Ligue 1 giants last summer.

But while Ibrahimovic has impressed most in his debut season in France, Edmilson has long harboured reservations over the former AC Milan striker.

“Lucas needs to stay smart around this arrogant superstar,” the retired defender posted on his Twitter account.

The 36-year-old’s disregard for the prolific striker dates back to 2009 around the transfer that took Ibrahimovic to Barcelona in a swap deal that saw Samuel Eto’o move to Inter.

“I do not know if something happened between Eto’o and the board, but there is no way to compare the two players,” Edmilson said at the time.

“You do not swap Eto’o for Ibrahimovic,” added the defender, a former team-mate of Eto’o during Frank Rijkaard’s spell as Barcelona coach.
