Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has singled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Borussia Dortmund’s main threat ahead of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
The prolific Aubameyang has scored 36 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season for BVB.
And Germany international Can is wary of the Gabon striker’s ability as Liverpool prepare to visit Signal Iduna Park on Thursday.
“I follow the Bundesliga so that’s why I know their team. I played a few times against Dortmund so I know they’re very strong,” Can told Liverpool’s official website.
“They press well, they can play football, and they have a good striker in Aubameyang – he can always score.
“[Thomas] Tuchel’s teams run a lot, I think. He likes when they run a lot, and they counter-attack. It was the same at Mainz. They have very good players who can play on the counter.”
Nevertheless, Can is optimistic about Liverpool’s chances of getting a good result in Dortmund.
“I think we’ve performed well in the big games against big teams, for example against [Manchester] City and Chelsea we’ve played very well,” he added.
“And that’s what we want to do on Thursday as well, although it will be a different game to the Premier League.
“Of course, we have confidence and we did not play bad in the last few games. That’s why we can go over to Dortmund with confidence and we will try to win the game.
“The key to getting a good result is that we play our game, we play as a team and we play at the highest level we can.”
