Atletico Madrid midfielder Emre has praised coach Diego Simeone, insisting that the trainer believes in the talent of every player.

The Turkey international, who moved to the Vicente Calderon this summer from Fenerbahce, has said that he ‘maintains a good relationship’ with the tactician, while also commenting on the side’s 1-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday.

“It was a tough match, but we were dominating them every second. We won the first two games of the Europa League and that’s critical,” the 32-year-old was quoted as saying by AS.

“I am very happy with the explanations that Simeone [provides]. The coach is very important for the club and for world football. We have a good relationship.

“[We] talked before the game and knew what he wanted. I am very happy to be at Atletico. I’m calm and have been working well from the first day I came to this team.

“I’m a professional and since I was 27 or 28 years old, I have paid much more attention to my health and my physical [well-being] and so I feel good. The most important thing is that the team is good.

“Simeone believes in the talent of each player and it is important that we maintain a good relationship.”
