Manchester United Michael Carrick hopes to show his England boss Fabio Capello he can cut it at international level against Spain tonight.
“I always knew that if I played consistently well for United then I would be picked”, The Sun reported Carrick said. “It goes without saying I wanted to be in the squad but when I wasn’t selected there was no point moaning and sulking about it” .
Carrick has scored just twice for United this season but he insists he will not let his lack of goals affect his overall game: “I never set myself a target at the start of a season. Different games dictate how you play and you accept that. I am not really too fussed who scores as long as we win”, he added.
