English clubs given boost in Arshavin race

The Premier League clubs interested in signing Russian playmaker have received a huge boost today [Monday] after BBC reported that Barcelona – the player’s favoured club – have failed to reach an agreement with the player’s club.

The reports also states that no other club has made an offer for Arshavin, but Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea were rumoured to be interested in the 27 year-old. Of these three clubs Arsenal is thought to be the most interested, according to a report in The Telegraph last week.

“Barcelona have failed to improve their original offer of 15m euros.

“We decided to end our negotiations with the Spanish club.

“We have not received any offers for Arshavin from any other clubs, therefore there are no discussions going on about his transfer.” Read a statement on Zenit St. Petersburg’s website, according to BBC.
