A terrific second half helped FC Twente to a 3-0 win at AZ Alkmaar that took them to the top of the Eredivisie table.
Steve McLaren’s side travelled to Alkmaar in a rich vein of form, having lost just one of their last 10 league fixtures.
AZ – who sit 12th on the table and have struggled this season – had won their last two and in the first half challenged FC Twente.
Neither side could find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes but Belgian Nacer Chadli’s goal, scored two minutes into the second half, gave the visitors the lead.
Chances kept coming for McLaren’s men and Luc Castaignos doubled the advantage on 75 minutes before Chadli’s late effort sealed the result.
FC Twente lead the league by three points ahead of PSV Eindhoven after the victory, which was their third in their last four matches.
