Heerenveen snapped a seven-match winless streak with a 3-0 home triumph over Utrecht in Friday’s Eredivisie action.

Both sides entered the match in poor form, with Utrecht having won just one of their last 11, but it was the hosts who brought more confidence into the match, having claimed a 2-2 away draw at PSV on Sunday.

And that confidence obviously helped the hosts as they started brightly and went in front after 19 minutes when Moroccan striker Ousama Assaidi scored for the second match in succession.

Luciano Narsingh doubled Heerenveen’s lead 10 minutes later as Utrecht’s poor run of form continued and the result was put beyond doubt when Bas Dost delivered a clever chip that got a helping hand from visiting goalkeeper Michel Vorm with 13 minutes remaining.

The victory lifted Heerenveen ahead of Feyenoord and NAC Breda into 11th, two points behind eighth-placed Utrecht.
