Feyenoord Rotterdam bounced back from last week’s defeat with a narrow but valuable victory over VVV Venlo on Saturday.

The only goal of the match, scored at Rotterdam’s De Kuip stadium, was scored by veteran midfielder Denny Landzaat in the 27th minute.

Feyenoord move back into fourth place, at three points from leaders Twente. The latter face FC Groningen on Sunday.

Sparta, who beat Feyenoord in last week’s city derby, earned a 2-3 win at ADO Den Haag and climb to eighth place. Erik Falkenburg scored all away goals, the last of which in the very last minute. Danny Buijs and Charlton Vicento scored for the hosts.
