Vitesse must get back to winning ways when they face AZ in the Eredivisie to avoid Ajax widening their lead at the top of the table.

Peter Bosz’s side were top for seven consecutive weeks earlier in the season but draws in their last two matches have seen Ajax open up a two-point gap at the summit.

They face an AZ side who are slowly rebuilding their campaign after a poor run of form saw them slip from top to mid-table, with last weekend’s 2-0 win over Groningen pushing them back up to sixth.

Vitesse, who are unbeaten 12 league matches, will be confident despite their recent dip given that AZ have not won back-to-back matches in the Eredivisie since November.

Ajax welcome Groningen to the Amsterdam Arena on Thursday and boast a proud record against the visitors, having never lost a home league match against them.

Frank de Boer’s side were held by Utrecht last weekend, ending an eight-game winning streak that has seen them climb to the top of the table after 21 games.

Twente can move to within a point of Ajax if they win their game in hand, and face Heerenveen on Wednesday looking to preserve a nine-match unbeaten run.

Strugglers Roda JC welcome Feyenoord to the Parkstand Limburg Stadion on Tuesday hoping to collect a first win over Ronald Koeman’s side since March 2011 and arrest a slump in form that has seen them drawn into the relegation battle.

Roda’s relegation rivals Cambuur host PSV on Wednesday looking to apply further pressure on the under-fire Phillip Cocu, and Utrecht face PEC Zwolle in a mid-table battle a day later.

Bottom club ADO Den Haag face Heracles, NEC host NAC Breda , nd RKC Waalwijk visit Go Ahead Eagles.
