Vitesse went third in the Eredivisie table with a 2-0 home win over Utrecht on Friday.
In what was a battle between the fourth- and sixth-placed sides heading into the encounter at the GelreDome, it was Fred Rutten’s men that earned all three points to move provisionally above Feyenoord.
Japan international Mike Havenaar opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark, before Ivorian Wilfried Bony fired in a second 11 minutes after the interval.
It was Vitesse’s third win in succession – and their second clean sheet in their past three – while for Utrecht, they have lost three of their past four in a tough spell for Jan Wouters’ men.
