PEC Zwolle moved further clear of the relegation zone after a Fred Benson brace set up a 2-0 win at VVV Venlo in the Eredivisie.

Art Langeler’s side took the lead at Seacon Stadion De Koel on 13 minutes when Dutch attacker Benson was set up by Youness Mokhtar.

Despite frequent attacks on the hosts’ goal Zwolle had to wait until the 63rd minute to extend their advantage, Benson gathering Wiljan Pluim’s pass and firing home his fifth goal of the season.

The result moves Zwolle to 12th spot on 33 points, seven points clear of the relegation places with four games remaining.

VVV stay in 17th spot on 22 points and are likely to feature in the relegation playoffs.
