Feyenoord played out a gripping 2-2 draw with Ajax, while the top two won in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

Ten-man Ajax had held out valiantly at the Stadion Feijenoord following defender Niklas Moisander’s 75th-minute sending off, until Graziano Pelle controlled the ball on his chest and slammed it home in stoppage time to salvage a point.

Pelle almost headed home the winner moments later but saw his powerful effort tipped wide by Ajax shot-stopper Kenneth Vermeer.

Ajax twice went ahead through midfielders Christian Eriksen and Siem de Jong either side of 18-year-old Jean-Paul Boetius’ 23rd-minute equaliser for Feyenoord.

The result leaves Ajax in fourth place in the Eredivisie after 10 games, seven points behind leaders Twente.

Dusan Tadic scored the only goal of the game as Twente stayed a point clear on top of the league with a 1-0 win over RKC Waalwijk.

Second-placed PSV, meanwhile, came from behind at PEC Zwolle to win 2-1 and maintain the pressure on Twente.

Timothy Deijck levelled the scores in the 75th minute after Joey van den Berg’s opener for PEC Zwolle, and it was Van den Berg who put the ball into his his own net four minutes later to hand all the points to PSV.

Heracles won a nine-goal thriller 6-3 at home to Heerenveen and extended their unbeaten streak in all competitions to eight games.

Ninos Gouriye bagged a hat-trick for Heracles, who led 4-1 just after half-time, and the goals kept coming as Alfredh Finnbogason completed a double for Heerenveen in the second half.

In the other game, AZ Alkmaar scored two minutes from full-time through Johann Berg Gudmundsson to pinch a 2-1 win at Vitesse, their first victory in four matches.
