Eredivisie wrap: PSV slip up at Vitesse

SoccerNews in Eredivisie 9 Feb 2013

PSV Eindhoven failed to significantly extend their lead at the top of the Eredivisie after a 2-2 draw at Vitesse on Saturday.

A Dries Mertens spot-kick gave PSV the lead after 19 minutes before Wilfried Bony’s penalty in the 77th minute levelled the scores.

But the deadlock was short-lived as Georginio Wijnaldum regained the lead for PSV a minute later before Bony again tied the game two minutes from time.

The loss of points for PSV means a win for second-placed Ajax against Roda on Sunday will reduce the gap at the top of the standings to only one point.

ADO Den Haag remained in the top-half with a 2-1 home triumph over NAC Breda.

Second-half strikes to Charlton Vicento and Tjaronn Chery established a lead for the hosts before NAC Breda scored a consolation goal through Ricky ten Voorde seven minutes from time.

Bottom side Willem II suffered a 4-1 thumping at Heracles – extending their winless run to seven – despite taking the lead after six minutes.

Niek Vossebelt got Willem off to the perfect start but goals to Marko Vejinovic, Thomas Bruns and Lerin Duarte established a 3-1 led at half-time.

Bruns scored his second after half-time to round out the scoring and lift Heracles in the top-half of the table.

In other matches, Gronigen overcame RKC Waalwijk 2-1 while Heerenveen and VVV Venlo fought out a 2-2 draw.
