Eredivisie leaders PSV crashed to a 2-1 defeat against fellow title hopefuls Vitesse on Sunday, while champions Ajax overcame Roda JC.

Dick Advocaat’s PSV were unbeaten in eight Eredivisie games heading into the clash at Philips Stadion and that run looked set to continue when Timothy Derijck opened the scoring on five minutes, his second goal in two league matches.

The hosts’ lead lasted no more than 10 minutes, however, as Vitesse equalised through Jonathan Reis.

The visitors completed the comeback in the 74th minute with in-form striker Wilfried Bony netting his 15th goal of the season to hand Vitesse their first victory over PSV since 2001.

Christian Eriksen and Lasse Schone hit the back of the net in the final eight minutes to guide Ajax to a 2-1 win at Roda JC.

Guus Hupperts handed Roda a surprise 1-0 lead on 14 minutes but as the home team sat back, they invited pressure and were eventually punished.

Danish international Eriksen levelled proceedings in the 82nd minute before Schone hit the winner six minutes later.

Ajax remain fourth alongside Feyenoord, who accounted for AZ Alkmaar 2-0 thanks to strikes to Tonny de Vilhena and Ruben Schalken.

FC Twente and Zwolle shared the spoils of a 2-2 draw in Sunday’s late game.
