PEC Zwolle pulled away from the Eredivisie relegation zone following a 3-2 home win over fellow strugglers Roda JC on Friday.
In what was an entertaining affair at the IJsseldelta Stadion, Roda opened the scoring after just six minutes when Syrian striker Sanharib Malki struck his 13th goal of the season, only for Bart van Hintum to level the ledger four minutes later.
In another frenetic period of the first half, Zwolle went ahead for the first time through Youness Mokhtar just after the half-hour before Bart Biemans made it 2-2 on 35 minutes.
Both sides pressed for a winner in the second half and it was Zwolle who got it when Denni Avdic scored in the 73rd minute to hand his side three vital points.
The win sees Zwolle climb to 12th on the table on 29 points, four ahead of Roda who remain stuck in the relegation zone.
