Eriksen talks up BVB move; Alejandro Gomez nears Atletico switch

Christian Eriksen has confirmed there have been transfer talks between Ajax and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer transfer window.

AFC Ajax Amsterdam ace Christian Eriksen has confirmed there have been transfer talks between the Dutch Eredivisie champions and UEFA Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer transfer window, Sky Sports understands.

Eriksen, 21, is one of the most in-demand players in Europe at the moment, with BVB and Liverpool reportedly leading the race for the Denmark international.

The 21-year-old, whose current contract at the Amsterdam Arena expires at the end of next season, is poised to leave Ajax after rejecting a contract extension from the club earlier this season.

A move to Dortmund would see Eriksen replace Mario Gotze, who is set to join Bayern Munich on 1 July 2013 for a transfer fee of €37 million, in the No. 10 role at Signal Iduna Park.

“Dortmund are a club where I would like to play,” Eriksen told De Telegraaf. “I think I would be a good fit there with the football there.

“Dortmund play nice, attacking football. The Bundesliga has never really been my preferred choice and a few years ago I would not even have considered it, but now I do.

“The competition is getting stronger and it is no coincidence the two Champions League finalists are German clubs.

“I know there has been contact between the two clubs, and both Ajax and Dortmund have already talked to my agent.

“I will consider all the clubs and quietly make a decision. I want clarity when preparing for the new season, that’s the best thing – for everyone.”

A summer move to Anfield would see the Denmark international play alongside compatriot Daniel Agger, Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho.

The latter — joining Liverpool — is not a bad option, but it’s not the best option as the former — joining Borussia Dortmund — guarantees UEFA Champions League football next season.

In an attempt to lure his compatriot to Anfield, Daniel Agger told Jyllands-Posten: “We want to play attacking football with the ball on the ground and that is exactly what Christian Eriksen is all about. That is the kind of player we need.”

Eriksen has bagged 13 goals and 18 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Ajax this season.

Alejandro Gomez nears Atletico swith

Calcio Catania forward Alejandro Gomez is on the verge of securing a summer move to Atletico Madrid, according to club president Antonino Pulvirenti.

The Argentine winger is also reportedly attracting interest from FC Internazionale Milano and Swansea City.

Gomez, 25, has made over 100 appearances for Catania since joining the Rossazzurri from Argentine Primera División side Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro in July 2010.

“The negotiations with Atletico Madrid are very advanced, we have some serious bids. I think Gomez will go there,” said Pulvirenti.

“How we’ll replace Gomez? We have [Lucas] Castro and we have already taken [Sebastian] Leto.

“We will also continue to work in Argentina where there are many players that familiarise themselves very well in Serie A.”

The former Argentina Under-20 international has tallied eight goals and seven assists in 35 league appearances for Catania in 2012-13, playing a vital role in the club’s top-10 finish in Serie A.
