Sevilla centre-back Julien Escude has spoken of his respect for former Ajax team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Escude told RMC that even years ago at Ajax people knew that Ibrahimovic was destined for bigger things, as the Swede continues to be linked with a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain.
“I was 23 when we played together, Zlatan was still young but you could feel his full potential,” the defender said on Sunday.
There have been rumours Escude may be on his way out of Sevilla, with just a year left to run on his contract.
When asked about the speculation, the defender said: “The door is open for a departure. I intended to go after my contract but the club’s economic situation has changed priorities.”
Frenchman Escude also commented on the possibility of a move to Turkish giants Besiktas.
“Yes, I am in contact with them. We are in discussions. A return to France is not impossible but I favour a move abroad,” he said.
Besiktas are not the only club linked with the defender, with Villarreal, Bologna, Marseille and Lille all also queuing up for his signature.
