Estudiantes de la Plata have reached the final of the Copa Nissan Sudamericana thanks to a 1-0 win over Argentinos Juniors.
The first match had a 1-1 draw as result and a single goal from Calderon on 62 minutes was enough to lead the home side, witnessed by 20,000 exuberant fans at Jorge Luis Hirsch stadium, to the final.
In the final, Juan Sebastian Veron’s Estudiantes are to face Brazilian side Internacional. In the first leg, the Argentinians will have to do without Braña who was sent off after 94 minutes.
Neither side has reached the final before. In fact, if Internacional were to win the tournament, they would be the first Brazilian side to do so in the cup’s first edition in 2002. Argentinian sides have won three times.
