Estudiantes top Group 3 in Copa Libertadores

(GSM) – Argentinian side Estudiantes have won the battle for first place in Group 3 of the Copa Libertadores.

The defending South American champions hosted Alianza Lima and needed a win to finish in the top spot. A draw was enough for Alianza to do so.

And the Peruvians were on their way to a goalless result until Juan Sebastian Veron scored the only goal five minutes into added time.

Estudiantes finish with 13 points, Alianza have 12.

In the other Group 3 game, Bolivar beat Juan Aurich 2-0 to secure their first and only victory in this year’s Libertadores campaign. Both teams had already been eliminated.
