(GSM) – Metalist delivered a convincing performance in their UEFA Europa League Group I opener, beating Debrecen 0-5 in Hungary. PSV were held to a 1-1 draw by Sampdoria.

Debrecen stood no chance against a much stronger Metalist, and the Ukranians took the lead through Edmar in the 24th minute.

Cleiton Xavier doubled that advantage ten minutes later and when Debrecen’s Peter Kabat was red-carded shortly before the break, the match seemed all but decided.

Edmar (74th), Fininho (77th) and Sergey Valyaev (89th) went on to give Metalist a very comfortable 0-5 win.

Italian outfit Sampdoria came close to securing three points at PSV in the Netherlands after Fabrizio Cacciatore’s 25th-minute opener.

But the Dutch did not give up that easily and Hungarian Balazs Dzsudzsak scored the equaliser in the 90th minute to save the day and earn his team a point.
