Everton in a mission to hijack deal for Diego Llorente

Real Sociedad are believed to be on the cusp of securing a deal for Real Madrid defender Diego Llorente, but the Premier League side Everton are keen to hijack the move for the 23-year-old according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The Toffees are hoping to outbid the La Liga side as they prepare to submit a £5 million higher offer than Real Sociedad’s £7 million proposal in last-ditch bid to sign the Real Madrid defender.

Diego Llorente spent last season on loan at Malaga where he made 27 appearances. The Real Madrid loanee added two goals during that time.

One-cap Spanish international has three more years in his deal with the Champions League winners and La Liga champions, but is unlikely to return to Santiago Bernabeu.

Everton are hoping to scrap Real Sociedad’s efforts to land the defender as they are prepared to use Europa League football to lure Llorente to Goodison.
