Everton on Monday launched an appeal over Australia midfielder Tim Cahill’s red card against Liverpool.
Cahill was sent off for a two-footed tackle on Xabi Alonso in the 80th minute of the 2-0 derby defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Referee Mike Riley showed Cahill a straight red card and the former Millwall star faces a three-match ban, starting this weekend against Newcastle.
But Everton disagree with the decision and have appealed to the Football Association.
According to the club, a hearing will take place later this week at which they are allowed to submit written documentation.
