Everton miss out on Ecuador starlet

Brazilian giants Gremio have completed the signing of Ecuadorian striker Miller Bolanos from Emelec, it has been revealed.

The Brazilian club have paid €5 million for the services of the 25-year-old footballer, who has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last couple of years.

The interesting thing is that Bolanos had signed a pre-contract agreement with Guangzhou Evergrande, but his national team coach Gustavo Quinteros reportedly strongly objected to a move to China, which is why the striker ultimately decided to join Gremio.

Bolanos also had offers from Europe as Everton, Celta Vigo and Espanyol were keen on his signature, but none of the three sides decided to make a move in the January window.

The highly rated footballer has been in excellent form over the last two years, bagging 44 goals in 70 league outings, while earning 12 Ecuador caps and scoring 6 goals in the process.
