Everton not giving up on Strootman

Liverpool Echo has suggested that Everton are planning a fresh assault on AS Roma hotshot Kevin Strootman.

With Gareth Barry nearing the end of his playing days, the Toffees are determined to reinforce the midfield department and the Netherlands star is the number one footballer on their hit-list.

It is believed that AS Roma would consider offers in the region of €38 million and the asking price appears to be well within Everton’s range.

The Toffees have seen their financial situation improve considerably of late, which allowed them to reject a number of big money offers for star player Romelu Lukaku.

It remains to be seen though whether Kevin Strootman would be interested in joining the Premier League outfit, with his compatriot Ronald Koeman expected to try and persuade the 26-year-old to join his ranks.

Strootman has endured a real injury nightmare over the last couple of years at AS Roma, but he is now back in full fitness.
