Everton to make shock move for Diego Simeone?

Having recently sacked struggling Dutchman Ronald Koeman, Everton are in the market for a new manager. Sean Dyche and Sam Allardyce have both been heavily linked with the high-profile job, but the Merseyside club are reportedly aiming higher.

Diego Simeone of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, according to the Guardian, is who the Everton hierarchy want, though whether the fiery Argentinian will desire a switch from habitual Champions League dark horses Atleti to relegation-threatened Everton remains to be seen.

The highly animated coach has won both La Liga and the Europa League with the Madrid based club, as well leading the Rojiblancos to two runners up finishes in the Champions League.

Quite what would possess him to consider swapping the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Deigo Godin for Ashley Williams and Oumar Niasse is beyond this correspondent, but it would certainly be quite the coup if Everton did manage to bring the controversial Argentinian to the Premier League.
