England will face five-time world champions Brazil next year as part of the Football Association’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

Roy Hodgson’s side will host Brazil at Wembley Stadium on February 6, 2013 before touring the South American country in June.

The Three Lions have also confirmed international friendlies against fierce rivals the Republic of Ireland (May 29) and Scotland (August 14), with both matches to be staged at Wembley.

For the entire 2013 season, the England shirts will be adorned with a new crest, highlighting the Association’s landmark celebration.

The shirts will be decorated in gold, with handwritten laws from the FA’s foundation year, 1863, behind the crest.

“It is a great honour to be chairman of the Football Association as we head into our 150th year,” said FA Chairman David Bernstein, who has occupied the role since January 2011.

“It is incredible to think how the game has developed from that very first meeting at the Freemasons’ Tavern in October 1863.

“Those founding fathers had real foresight to bring order and organisation to the game.

“Still, despite their sporting values and vision, no-one could have foreseen what football would come to mean for the nation.

“It truly is the national game and one in which we should all take tremendous pride.”
