Mansfield Town have set up an FA Cup third round tie with Liverpool after knocking off Lincoln City 2-1 in their second round replay.

Having gone behind through an own goal on Wednesday, Lincoln City restored parity by half-time thanks to a goal from Adam Smith four minutes before the break.

It was Mansfield’s Louis Briscoe who produced the decisive moment of the match, scoring in the 77th minute to send the home fans into frenzy.

Mansfield took the lead in the 14th minute when John Dempster got his head to Chris Clements’ free-kick, sending the ball into the far post only for it to ricochet off Lincoln goalkeeper Paul Farman into the net.

Lincoln’s Smith produced a classy lob to equalise in the 41st minute after running onto a long aerial pass but it was Mansfield that claimed victory in the second half.

Having controlled possession from a throw in, Mansfield got the ball to Clements, who passed directly into the penalty area to Anthony Howell.

Howell played a first-time pass to Briscoe, who side-footed home from the top of the six-yard box, and the Conference National side held on for victory.

Mansfield will host Liverpool in the third round on January 6.
