Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has announced his intention to leave the club after spending last season as a reverse.

Fabianski was replaced as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper by fellow Poland international Wojciech Szczesny in 2010/11, and has since been unable to dislodge his compatriot.

The 27-year-old claims manager Arsene Wenger scuppered his plans to leave in the January transfer window and he now hopes to depart the north London club in the close season.

“I hope that my adventure with Arsenal has come to an end,” Fabianski told Gazeta Wyborcza.

“I intend to leave and play in a strong league. I wanted to leave in the winter, too, but Arsene Wenger did not give a green light.”

Fabianski has been named in Poland’s 26-man preliminary squad for Euro 2012, co-hosted by his homeland together with Ukraine.

He has 20 caps heading into the competition and is expected to be an understudy to Szczesny at the tournament.
