(GSM) – Cesc Fabregas has rejected a new contract at Arsenal. The Gunners offered their Spanish captain a weekly wage of £127000 but Fabregas wants to join Barcelona next summer.
Spanish newspaper Sport suggest that Fabregas’ return to the Camp Nou is about more than just “purely economic issues.” He has made his desire clear to his representatives and is simply waiting for both clubs to sort out the transfer.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to pay €50 million to Arsenal for the 22-year-old midfielder.
Sport also reports that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is realistic over the move and knows he is unlikely to lure Fabregas to the Spanish capital.

I was a little pissed to hear about this…it works well for the competition, but for the EPL as a whole, it would be a significant loss…
February 8, 2010
yea, they pretty much always say that when Arsenal lose a game.
February 8, 2010
that’s crazy talk…
that would drive me nuts having to live with that from week-to-week…
actually, it did when Drogba wanted out a couple of years ago…but Roman sweetened up that pie for him…
good ol’ Roman…
man, i’d hate to see Cesc turn his back on Wenger now…
February 8, 2010
if cesc leaves us he will ammount to nothing just like thierry henry and patrick viera

….tis expected…the lad is from catalunia…..thats always being his dream…..

He can go ahead and join Barca, but he should try and learn from his colleagues who left Arsenal at the pick of their performances, at the end of the day, they ended up with nothing and today, they regretted to have left Arsenal. I hope his own case never happend that way.
@Kabiru Abubakar, you and your club will perish and not Arsenal.

So you come to the EPL and develop your skills under a great coach, for a great team with great history and all-you-can-ask-for fans…then, when you get to the top of your game, run back home to show it off crying i’ve always wanted to play for Barca…it’s probably a perfect time for him to go, considering he’ll get to play alongside some of the greatest…should make life a lot easier for him… but leaving Wenger high-and-dry like that doesn’t seem right…
I don’t even know how true this article is, but it’s frustrating to hear about…and it’s not even my problem…
I heard Wenger is turning down the Chamakh deal too…something is not right…it’s like Wenger is not even trying to entice Fab to stay by not bringing in some support…hard to believe…I guess we’ll soon see what comes out of it…
I would hope that Barca repays Wenger and the Gunners a lot for developing Fab the way they have…if this deal goes through, Wenger should get an inside look at what is developing in the Barca academy and gets his cream of the crop picks…it could be a good partnership to have in the years to come, if it does not exist already…

watch, Arsenal actually beat Liverpool, so tomorrow we will see articles about Cesc being happy at Arsenal.
this happens every time..
totally agree about leaving Wenger high and dry though, its a shame Wenger has the bad rep for bringing in teenagers, especially when you hear the United fans Wenger-is-a-pedophile songs.
as far as Chamakh goes, i think that now that Wenger knows Chamakh would prefer to come to Arsenal then any other club, there is no point to persue. He is out of contract at the end of this season and with the year Bordeux are having they would never have sold him anyways.

fabregas was good, but he was never on the same plane as people like Ronaldo, Rooney, Drogba, Van Persie, Henry, etc.
If he wants to play for Barca, he should get some more experience in the EPL. . . FAR more experience.
February 11, 2010
well, he doesnt wanna play for barca.
February 11, 2010
Really Brad? Fab is not on the same plane as those guys?
I have to disagree…I think Fab is a better all-around player than all those guys…each one of those guys are specialists in their own right tho and Fab couldn’t touch them at their individual strengths…but as a complete footballer, I’d have to say it is Cesc over any of those guys…
How much more experience would Fab need too?? He captains one of the world’s biggest clubs in, what I would say is, the most difficult league in the world and has played in every major competition…he might not have all the silverware he needs, but he has packed a lot of experience in the short-time he’s been playing at the top levels…
February 12, 2010
uhhgggh. . . CFC fan, you figured out my code. . . drat.
yes, I was talking about the guys I said in my previous comment as being specialists. I didnt think of being a complete footballer. Otherwise I would have said he was on their plane. . . except for trophies. and i think barca would want guys who played a big role in helping their former club win a major trophy or two. . . that would rule out Fabregas’ link to barca. I think. . .
February 12, 2010
still don’t agree that Cesc’s lack of trophies would even be the slightest concern to Barca or any club for that matter…but I could be a little biased since I think he is the best mid-fielder in the world right now – yup, I said it…I would think any team would jump at the opportunity to sign him in a second…
February 13, 2010
Sir Alex Ferguson certainly would. . .
February 17, 2010
if fab realy is going, that’s gonna hurt real bad. but hey! imagine him groing up at home and watching most these guys play and now he has been offered the opportunity to play along side and at home too, be happy for him, he deserves it. the gunners can handle their biz. i hope wenger has a plan and hope fabs name doesn’t go out like the rest who left…we will survive.
February 18, 2010
brad fabregas is way better than those players.
He’s not leaving arsenal he’s happy here.
February 19, 2010
We don’t care u can go back home, do u fink we can not get better den go ahead, tanxs God we ar Arsenal fans not fabergas go we dont need u any more……
February 23, 2010
@Zoe:
He is happy at Arsenal now, but he’s NOT- and I mean NOT- way better. If he was, Arsenal would be dominating, not a two horse race between Chelsea(and Drogba) and MUFC(and Rooney). . . you cant win.

mark mah words,
cesc is not gona have a good time n barcelona…
arsenal suits him more…
i even guess Milan is the perfect spot for him…
barca is wasting money on him…
i dnt think hez worth 50million…
32m is just okay for him.
i really feel senna is much better than him.
March 10, 2010
cesc is a great player no doubt, but the likes of Henry, viera, Hleb, Flamini, etc were on top of their games at arsenal n felt the could stand the taste of time but rather had their game go down. No coaches in the world gives players all chances like WENGER. Good luck cesc on your quest.
