Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao says it is too early to talk of his side challenging for the Liga title this term.
The Colombian has been repeatedly linked with moves away from Madrid in recent weeks, but the attacker’s mind is firmly focused on continuing the club’s strong start to the season.
“Our campaign has been fantastic so far, we’re playing a very attractive brand of football and the whole team is hoping the rest of the season will be great too,” the 26-year-old told l’equipe.fr.
“We’re doing well just now, but we need to make sure we don’t let ourselves slip. It’s still early for title talk, but I’m convinced that we’ll be up at the top. Our priority is still a Champions League place.”
Falcao said that scoring goals is not important for him personally, but rewarding if it helps his team secure success.
“I’m happy with the start I have made, especially because my goals have allowed me to help my team win,” he said.
“I feel like I’ve been in great form since the season kicked off, and I hope this streak lasts for as long as possible.
“I’m not obsessed with scoring a set number of goals, I just want my team to win as many games as possible.”
Atletico are second in La Liga and are preparing for their trip to Granada on Sunday.
