Former West Ham full-back Julien Faubert has set his sights on a return to France after being released by Turkish club Elazigspor.

The 29-year-old is training with former club Bordeaux in order to keep up his fitness, and said he had received offers from several teams, but is desperate to play in Ligue 1 after spending the past five years abroad.

The former Real Madrid loanee told L’Equipe: “I have always wanted to return, even after it did not happen last summer. I love Ligue 1.

“I have had contact with four clubs. No matter the prestige of the club, my priority is to play in France.

“I asked Girondins (de Bordeaux) to allow me to train with them, to keep the weight off and allow me to enjoy playing football, and they kindly accepted.”

The one-time French international spent five years at Upton Park, including a six-month loan at the Santiago Bernabeu, before leaving the club on a free transfer last off-season.

Faubert signed a three-year deal with Super Lig outfit Elazigspor in June 2012, but was released after just six months.
