Portuguese daily newspaper Record has learned that FC Porto reject Sergio Oliveira is not interested in joining Southampton this winter.
The Saints are believed to be readying a £4 million bid for his services, but the 24-year-old doesn’t want to move to St Mary’s as he would rather join a side with championship ambitions.
Sergio Oliveira had an important role to play for the Dragons last term, but he has seen very little action this season after clashing with coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
The versatile midfielder didn’t want to be used as a left-sided defender and he is now paying the price for refusing to play where the boss wanted him.
After coming through the youth ranks at Estadio do Dragao, Oliveira enjoyed successful loan stints with Beira Mar, Mechelen, Penafiel and Pacos de Ferreira, while he went on to make ten league appearances for Porto after returning to the club.
