Federico Fazio interested in Premier League move

Sevilla defender Federico Fazio has hinted that he is open to a switch to English Premier League.

The talented defender was on the verge of joining Zenit St Petersburg in the January transfer window after his club accepted a €6 million offer, but he eventually opted to remain at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Due to Sevilla’s difficult financial situation, Fazio is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, and the Argentine knows where he wants to be playing his football when he leaves los Rojiblancos.

“Playing in the Premier League, in Italy or Germany would be good someday,” the Argentine told Estadio Deportivo.

“If they came now, the door would be open. I have a few years left on my contract with Sevilla but I could leave in the summer.”

Liverpool are the latest club to have been linked with the 25-year-old centre-back, but they could face a stiff competition for the player’s signature.

The Reds see Fazio as a perfect replacement for Martin Skrtel, who is expected to leave the club after falling out with boss Brendan Rodgers.

Federico Fazio has so far featured in 111 La Liga matches for Sevilla, and scored 10 goals.
