Felipe Melo set for January exit

Inter Milan are set to cash in on Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo in the January transfer window, Tuttosport can reveal.

The 33-year-old has finally seen some playing time under Stefano Pioli, but with his contract due to expire in the summer, a winter exit appears on the cards.

Inter Milan have no plans to offer the veteran a new deal and they hope to offload him at the earliest opportunity.

At the same time, the Nerazzurri will recruit a new central midfielder and there are three players on their hit-list.

The likes of Joao Moutinho, Lucas Leiva and Luiz Gustavo are all being linked with a move to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, as new boss Stefano Pioli clearly wants an experienced footballer who can slot straight into the starting line-up.

Felipe Melo hasn’t quite managed to prove his worth to the club, despite making 31 Serie A appearances since arriving from Galatasaray.
