Fenerbahce close to signing Mathieu Valbuena

French media outlet Le Progres has learned that Fenerbahce are set to wrap up the deal for Lyon star Mathieu Valbuena.

The Turkish giants had made the 32-year-old their number one target for the summer transfer window and the club officials arrived in Lyon to open negotiations on 23rd May.

Latest reports suggest they have all but agreed a €4 million deal with les Gones, while the experienced winger will sign a contract until either 2020 or 2021.

Mathieu Valbuena returned to France to sign for Lyon after spending just one year in Russia, and he fared pretty well last term, scoring 8 goals and producing 5 assists in 15 Ligue 1 starts.

With so many talented footballers coming through the youth ranks, les Gones are clearly prepared to offload the former France international and the transfer could be completed before the start of the summer transfer window in Turkey (9th June).
