Fenerbahce have denied suggestions they are considering making a move for Inter defender Lucio.
Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni is keen to keep the 34-year-old at San Siro, but the player’s agent said his client was looking to leave the Italian giants.
However, it now seems he will not be moving to the Turkish club, with Fenerbahce releasing a statement to end the speculation on their official website.
“In the press recently, there have been many stories concerning the transfer of Inter’s Lucio. These reports do not reflect reality,” the statement read.
“This, along with other speculative articles have a negative effect on our work in the transfer market, bring unnecessary expectations, and as our club is listed on the stock exchange, investors are misled.”
Fenerbahce finished second in the Super Lig last season, and will compete in the qualifying stage for the Champions League.
