Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has praised his squad for winning the 2012-13 Premier League title “in style”.

United reclaimed the trophy they lost in dramatic fashion to local rivals Manchester City last season in ruthless fashion, carving out an unassailable lead at the top with four games to spare.

And, speaking at the club’s official victory parade, the Scot, who is set to retire at the end of the campaign, challenged his players to repeat that feat next year.

“This is fantastic, I’m more pleased for you than anything else. To go through a 38-week programme of premier division and win it in style with a great bunch of players was great,” he said.

“It is a young squad with a lot of good young players and they will get better. The big test will be to win it three times in a row.

“Yesterday (the pre-match reception ahead of his final home game), is a day I will never forget. It was wonderful. Thank you. It was something all my family enjoyed and the grandkids will never forget it.”
