Manchester United have been linked with a move for former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry this summer and the English press is still suggesting that a move is not as far off as many people would like to believe.
Henry has had a poor debut season at Barcelona – during which he scored 19 goals playing on the wing – and the Catalan club would be willing to let the Frenchman go should a suitable offer come in. The Daily Mail believes that, in this case, ‘suitable’ means £20 million.
According to the same report, Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to pursue his interest for Henry and would like complete the deal by next Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle.
The purchase of Henry could solve two problems for United. The European Champions have little cover in the attacking department and Henry could line up as a striker. Similarly, Manchester United will be lacking wingers for the start of the Premier League campaign with Nani suspended and Ronaldo still in recovering from surgery.
