Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes reassured the club’s fans by suggesting manager Harry Redknapp could stay even if they are relegated.

Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes reassured the club’s fans by suggesting manager Harry Redknapp could stay even if they are relegated.

The west Londoners suffered a second consecutive English Premier League defeat on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Manchester United at home, leaving Redknapp’s side winless in six and seven points adrift of safety.

However, responding to a fan questioning whether Redknapp would stay regardless of the club’s final league position, Fernandes wrote on Twitter: “I’m sure he will.

“I am optimistic as ever. I’m still smiling. It’s the next eight games. Lots of good things.

“Good chat with Harry on the future come what may. We know what we have to do. Many points to play for.”

Though Fernandes has previously said that he will leave QPR if he cannot solve the problems at the club, he quashed speculation over his future.

“I will. I’m responsible for this mess ultimately. I have heard the fans and I will stay and fix it. I really love QPR. We can sort this out,” he said on Twitter.

“Not sure how many times I can pledge. Hahaha. But I’m pledging. Aint (sic) going anywhere as long as the fans want me.”
