Fernandez on the verge of Swansea move

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Napoli defender Federico Fernandez is nearing a switch to Swansea.

The two clubs are reportedly set to agree on a €10 million transfer fee, allowing the Argentine to move to English Premier League.

This is enough to suggest the Swans are preparing for life without centre-back Chico Flores, who is leaving the club to join Qatari side Lekhwiya.

Federico Fernandez has been a Napoli player since the summer of 2011, when he joined from Estudiantes, but he needed quite a while to nail down a regular starting berth at Stadio San Paolo.

It was only after impressing on loan at Getafe that the 25-year-old started proving his worth in Naples, making 25 Serie A starts last season.

He in turn started four matches for Argentina at the 2014 World Cup, but did not feature in the semi-final and final as Martin Demichelis was preferred by coach Alejandro Sabella.

“This is enough to suggest the Swans are preparing for life without captain Ashley Williams, who is wanted by some of England’s top clubs” – kinda makes you wonder then why the Swans offered Ashley a huge new contract a few weeks ago…and why the player signed it!

If you’re going to make shit up, at least do a little bit of research first so that you don’t look totally stupid!

I admit my mistake Nigel, thanks for pointing it out. I should have done more research, but having just returned from a vacation, I had missed the latest developments at the Liberty Stadium, even if that is no excuse.

    What a lazy article…
Williams has just signed a long term extension a few weeks back so is definitely NOT enough to suggest we’re preparing for life without our captain and chico has left to reunite with Laudrup in Qatar which is not mentioned above and is the reason why Fernandez is being sought, and he is one of many being looked at!

Research required – Swans need a replacement for Chico not Ash who has just signed a new 4 year deal.
