Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink believes his side can secure qualification for the UEFA Europa League by winning their remaining league games.

Fink’s team sit one point behind sixth-placed Freiburg in the Bundesliga, but have three fixtures to overturn that deficit and take the final European spot.

And the 45-year-old is confident that his squad can achieve such a feat – starting with a home victory against Wolfsburg on Sunday.

“Our aim is to get all nine points out of the remaining games,” Fink told Hamburger Morgenpost.

“If we do that then we are 100 percent in Europe. A win against Wolfsburg this week puts us right back in business.”

Fink went on to insist that Hamburg, who have lost four of their last six games, are not burdened by the do-or-die nature of their bid for Europe.

“We still have the chance of a positive surprise and compete in the Europa League. That is positive pressure,” he added.

“It is this enthusiasm that I want to see against Wolfsburg. It’s got to be there.”
