Fiorentina have made a bid for Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie, according to the Dutch club’s director of football Martin van Geel.

Clasie has attracted the attention from some of Europe’s heavyweight sides, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to be interested, but it appears Fiorentina lead the race to guarantee his signature for next season.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form so far this campaign, and has helped lead the Dutch side to third place in the league – only a point behind league leaders Ajax.

Van Geel revealed there has been an offer placed for the youngster and, while they do not have to sell him, if the price is right they may part with the player.

“Let me start, we do not want or need to sell. Yet, at the same time, we must also bear in mind the interests of the players and evaluate any offers, offers that sometimes you can’t refuse from other clubs,” Van Geel told reporters.

“There is an offer

from Fiorentina, but we’ll talk about it at the end of the season. Now our players must focus only on the objectives at Feyenoord.

“This is how the game works and we know to deal with them.”
