Alberto Gilardino has had a poor season for AC Milan, having just scored nine goals in Serie A this term. He has not been a regular in the team and has often played second fiddle to strikers Pato and Inzaghi.
The former Parma man is looking for a way out so he can get more playing time, and has been linked with several clubs. One of them, Fiorentina, are said to be willing to meet Milan’s £12 million asking price with a straight cash offer. Another possibility would be a straight swap between Fiorentina’s French goalkeeper, Frey, and Gilardino.
The 25-year old striker has scored 36 goals in 94 for games for Milan since his move from Parma in 2005. He is also a Italian international with 25 caps to his belt, and is exepected to be selected for the European Championships this summer.
