Serie A outfit Fiorentina have enquired about the possibility of signing Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa, according to Brazilian daily newspaper O Globo.
Viola look set to shake up their attacking options in the summer transfer window and they appear hot on the trail of the Brazilian forward.
O Globo has suggested that Fiorentina have asked Santos to name their price for the highly rated footballer.
Having cashed in on Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Viola have money to spend and they are determined to lure the youngster to Stadio Artemio Franchi before other interested sides have time to act.
Gabriel Barbosa, 18, has shown a great deal of promise so far, and he already has 16 goals in 60 league matches for Santos.
The youngster represented Brazil at the Under-20 South American Championships in Uruguay, but was unable to make any impact, having only netted once in seven appearances at the tournament finals.
