Fiorentina have taken a keen interest in Fluminense defender Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa, according to the player’s official representative.
Viola are in the market for defensive reinforcements and it would appear as though the Brazilian centre-back has emerged as one of their top targets.
And while they were recently linked with Benfica’s Lisandro Lopez, Fiorentina are also considering a move for Marlon.
“I can confirm the interest of Fiorentina and soon we will have a new contact, but that does not mean that Florence is the boy’s (next) destination,” agent Fred Moraes told O Globo.
Fiorentina have enjoyed a strong start to the new league campaign, having climbed to the top of the standings, and they clearly want to give themselves the best possible chance of finally achieving Champions League qualification by further reinforcing their ranks in January.
Their latest target Marlon came through the youth ranks at Fluminense and went on to make 51 league appearances for the Brazilian giants, but everything suggests he will be moving to Europe in the winter.
