Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci has revealed the club are keen to sign Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez.
The German forward is reportedly deemed surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena following a frustrating season in which he slipped behind Mario Mandzukic in the pecking order.
And Mencucci says the Italian club will lead the list of potential suitors for the Germany international should he elect to depart.
“It is beyond doubt that Gomez is one of the players who interests us,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I can also tell you that Fiorentina are one of the teams he is keeping in mind should be change jersey this summer.”
Mencucci also explained that highly rated forward Stevan Jovetic could leave to join Juventus, despite the intense rivalry between the Serie A duo.
“Jovetic to Juventus? Money has no scent, so in financial terms we do not rule any club out,” he added.
“Admittedly the Della Valle family wouldn’t be very happy if he went there and perhaps would have something to say.”
